Over the years, the world of football has had few of its best players in the position. The likes of Pele, Alfredo Di Stefano, Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff are few of the greatest players to ever play in the position.

5. Robert Lewandowski (FC. Barcelona)

The former Bayern Munich goal machine Robert Lewandowski moved to FC Barcelona following an eight years stint at the club. The Polish striker moved to the Camp Nou for a transfer fees worth €45 million.

During his first season with the Catalan Giants, the prolific striker has made 46 appearances for the club, scoring 33 times and had 8 assists under his belt. Lewandowski managed to clock 3,954 minutes on the field.

4. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspurs)

The player reportedly rejected a billion-dollar contract from the Saudi side Al Hilal as mentioned he would like to stay at Europe. He was also speculated to have a dream return to his boyhood club FC Barcelona but that too wasn’t possible due to the club’s current financial situation. He has now agreed to  move to David Beckham’s MLS side Inter Miami.

The Argentine maestro, in his last season for the current Ligue 1 champions, played 41 matches and scored 21 goals.

He also made 20 assists, and marked 3637 minutes on the pitch for the club.

Apart for a pretty decent club football season, Messi also won the FIFA World Cup 2022 with Argentina. He scored seven goals in the tournament and managed to become the receiver of the Golden Ball award in the tournament.

2. Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint Germain)

The French top talent and proven gem, Kylian Mbappe has been a talk of the town for a couple of years now for his immense talent to find the back of the net with ease. He has been a pivotal part of PSG ever since his move from AS Monaco back in 2018.

Last season, Mbappe played 43 matches and scored 41 goals. He also had 10 assists to his name and played 3,564 minutes this season for the club.

He also helped his national team France to reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals and scored a phenomenal hattrick in the match. But in the end, despite all his heroics, France lost to Argentina in the penalties.

1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

The Norwegian star Erling Haaland had an explosive impact ever since he made his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City last season for a fees worth € 60 million.

In his first season at the Etihad stadium, Haaland stunned the world by scoring 52 goals in 53 matches for Man City. He also helped Pep Guardiola’s side with nine assists. His phenomenal performance helped the club win the treble this season, which included the first UEFA Champions League trophy the club was eagerly waiting for.
