Bourne Film

Edward Berger, director of All Quiet on the Western Front, is all set for his next big project of Bourne Film/Bourne Franchise after his previous successful hit.

‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ is mostly known for winning four Academy Awards for Production Design and Original Score as well as the Cinematography trophy, and later winning the Best International Feature Film Oscar. There is no doubt that the director Edward Berger is one of the men, if not the prime person, responsible for this movie’s success.

According to an inside source who spoke with Deadline, Universal Studios is soon to create a new Jason Bourne installment, and Mr. Berger is on the talk as the new director of the movie. After his success with his Oscar-winning movie, everyone is very excited to include Berger as a part of the new film, added the source.

The German-Austrian director is a very famous figure due to his accomplishments with his All Quiet on the Western Front. Universal Studios is all prepared for the best cast and other crew members, who will probably be assembled as soon as the script is completed, despite the fact that it is still in the early stages of preparation.

History of the Franchise/Bourne Film

The franchise has five films in total, which were released between 2002 and 2016, and those include The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), all of which starred Matt Damon as the lead protagonist Jason Bourne. Jason Bourne is based on Robert Ludlum’s novels, the franchise has made over $1.6 billion at the box office since it was released in 2002.

After some time Damon decided to not come back for his role in the next Bourne movie, due to his dissatisfaction with The Bourne Ultimatum movie. After Damon left the franchise, Jeremy Renner took over as the new lead in The Bourne Legacy (2012). However, in 2016 actor Matt Damon reprised his role as Jason Bourne, in the movie ‘Jason Bourne’ which was the direct sequel to his previous movie The Bourne Ultimatum.

The tie-in series Treadstone was connected to the Bourne franchise, which ceased operations in 2019. The show, which starred Tracy Ifeachor and Jeremy Irvine, examined the beginnings of the CIA initiative known as Operation Treadstone. Before being canceled, it ran on USA Network for one season.

Will Matt Damon return as Jason Bourne?

With his persistent training to bring Jason Bourne’s martial arts prowess and assassination expertise to life throughout the series, Matt Damon has contributed to the success of the films. However, Damon’s displeasure with The Bourne Ultimatum and his nine-year hiatus from the Bourne series suggests that he only agreed to return to Jason Bourne if he felt that Bourne’s story was handled more in his favor.

Although Greengrass and Damon both made a comeback for Jason Bourne, the former’s obvious reluctance to return for Bourne 6 may raise doubts about Damon’s own motivations.
